The network of European clusters EACN (European Automotive Cluster Network for Joint Industrial Modernization), in which CEAGA participates, has launched an initiative to seek formulas and solutions that help SMEs in the automotive industry to overcome the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. To this end, different working groups have been created focused on three areas: the analysis of the future of the automotive industry, joint and individual actions to support the clusters, and the financial and human resources impact on companies.

In the first online meeting, in order to analyze the starting situation, 15 automotive groups from 10 European and international countries participated, representing more than 2,800 companies. Over the next several weeks, participants will work on a roadmap to support member companies during future transformation processes.

With this initiative, EACN members reaffirm their commitment to companies in the sector that are facing a difficult stage dominated by uncertainty at a global level. In Europe, in the best case scenario, vehicle production is expected to decline by 24% by the end of 2020, according to data provided by LMC Auto, a market intelligence company consulted by CEAGA. Faced with this scenario, this European network wants to contribute, promoting cooperation between its partners to help companies recover.

The EACN initiative was born in 2017 with the main objective of fostering relationships between clusters and their companies and promoting competitiveness, economic growth and modernization of the automotive sector. It is a strategic alliance that aims to promote common innovation and cooperation projects, joining forces to develop solutions, processes and new businesses, as well as participating in European calls.
