More than 50 professionals from the automotive and mobility industry met yesterday in Vigo at a conference organised by CEAGA to analyse and share strategies and best practices for the efficient management of resources, incorporating the principles of the “Green Factory” model.
Companies from the automotive cluster, such as Stellantis Vigo, Borgwarner Emissions Systems and OPmobility Exterior Business, shared their success stories at this meeting, which was designed to help companies improve efficiency in the consumption of resources and promote sustainability in the industrial sphere. Hijos de Rivera and BA Glass also took part with the aim of learning about the sustainability strategies promoted by companies from other industrial sectors. The meeting was facilitated by Kaizen Institute.
As well as including the presentation of specific cases of benchmark companies, the workshop highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability as a strategic element in companies and the treatment of energy as a key factor. The main part was the organisation of work dynamics, where participants were able to share their plans to promote the “Green Factory” concept and circular economy, identifying possible collaborative projects and sustainable initiatives, both to be implemented individually in their own organisations and at cluster level.
The conclusions of each of the working groups were presented to the Xunta de Galicia through the Director of the Competitiveness Area, Norberto Penedo, who was in charge of closing the event. The objectives were: to work together, share knowledge, identify common strategies and convey to the Galician government the position and needs of the cluster in terms of sustainability.
Among the main conclusions of the event, it was highlighted the importance of focusing on sustainability as a lever of competitiveness in the automotive ecosystem, always promoting three axes simultaneously: economic, social and environmental.
This session on “Green Factory” is part of a series of four workshops on innovation and strategic reflection organised by CEAGA, aimed at top management, to lay the foundations for the automotive industry of the future. These meetings will deal with crucial issues for improving the competitiveness of the Galician industry. The next three will be on “Smart logistics” (10 June); “Business resilience” (8 July); and “Intelligent transformation” (23 September).
