The European Automotive Cluster Network (EACN), of which CEAGA is part, was launched, at the beginning of 2017, with the aim of promoting cooperative projects for the modernization of the automotive sector within the framework of Industry 4.0.

Approved by the COSME program of the European Commission, the EACN represents more than 1,400 companies and institutions, of which more than half are small and medium-sized enterprises, employing more than 300,000 people.

The EACN focuses its activities in the field of the Factory of the Future and establishes four strategic areas:

1. Virtualisation for planning processes
2. Robotics & Artificial Intelligence in production processes
3. Elasticity of production processes
4. Skills and competences of people

Within this framework, the ”EACN for Joint Industrial Modernization Investments” project was created to strengthen relations between the clusters and their companies and boost competitiveness, economic growth and the modernization of the sector.

The project was launched in October and will be carried out during 24 months, going through three phases: preparation, implementation and investment and, finally, diffusion, learning and sustainability.

The first official kick-off meeting of the project will take place in November and in parallel the project will be presented at the Industry of the Future exhibition in Mulhouse (BE 4.0), from November 20 to 21.

Together with CEAGA, eight clusters participate in the Project: Cluster Automotive-bw (Germany), Bayern Innovativ (Germany), el Cluster de la Indústria d´Automoció de Catalunya (Spain), Automotive Cluster Bulgaria (Bulgary), Pôle Véhicle du Futur (France), Automobile Cluster Serbia (Serbia) and the Silesia Automotive & Advanced Manufacturing (Poland).
