More than 50 professionals from the automotive and mobility industry met yesterday in Vigo at a conference organised by CEAGA to analyse and share strategies and best practices to optimise, automate and digitise the internal logistics processes of companies in the Galician automotive and mobility ecosystem.

In the “Smart Logistics” meeting, which stood out for its innovative character connecting strategy and technology, successful cases of internal logistics optimisation were presented by important companies of the Cluster such as Stellantis Vigo and GKN Driveline Vigo. In addition, with the aim of obtaining information from other sectors, Krack, a benchmark in logistics in the field of footwear, participated. Also included were use cases of the innovative startups that emerged from the Business Factory Auto & Mobility (BFA) accelerator: Binarial, MTS Tech and Xymbot Ltd. These three startups provided the most innovative part of logistics by presenting the importance of mobile robotics for internal logistics; intralogistics automation through AMRs; and the location of assets in real time. It was a great opportunity for the entire value chain of the sector to work together to improve the competitiveness of logistics.

Furthermore, the presentation of specific cases of reference companies, Miebach, the world’s leading logistics consultant, explained the main challenges and logistics strategies in the Supply Chain of the future, as well as the new technologies applied to internal logistics.

The conclusions of each of the working groups were presented to the Xunta de Galicia through Isaac Rosón, Director of the Innovation Area of Igape, who was in charge of closing the event. The objectives were: to work together, share knowledge, identify common strategies and convey to the Galician government the position and needs of the cluster in logistics matters.

This session on “Smart Logistics” is the second in a series of four workshops on innovation and strategic thinking organised by CEAGA, aimed at top management, to lay the foundations for the automotive industry of the future. These meetings will deal with crucial issues for improving the competitiveness of the Galician industry. The last two will be on “Business resilience” (8 July) and “Intelligent transformation” (23 September).

The differential element of these conferences lies in the importance of sharing success stories from the industry that help to improve the competitiveness of companies; connecting the automotive value chain with other different value chains and working together to promote collaborative or individual projects that can be submitted to different grants.

The conference on “Smart Logistics” is funded by Igape through the programme “Multidisciplinary workshops on digitalisation, sustainability and advanced logistics for the year 2024”. It is an effective collaboration meeting and is part of the Competitiveness Plan for the Galician Automotive and Mobility Ecosystem – PCAM 2030, specifically in the “Internal Logistics Optimisation Plan” line.
